*Coming Soon* From One Mum's Need to Thousands of Families: Sharing the Wonsie Story on the Wine With Wita Podcast

Around 15 years ago, I never imagined that a simple sewing project would one day grow into Wonsie.

It all began with a conversation with my friend Christy, whose son Zac is autistic. Like so many parents of children with additional needs, Christy was facing a challenge that most clothing simply wasn't designed to solve. Zac needed clothing that would prevent him from accessing his nappy, helping to reduce faecal smearing while keeping him comfortable, safe and preserving his dignity. Wanting to help, I made a few bodysuits. There was no business plan, no grand vision - just a desire to make life a little easier for one family.

What happened next was something I could never have predicted.

As more families discovered the garments, I realised Christy and Zac weren't alone. Parents, carers and support workers everywhere were searching for practical, comfortable adaptive clothing that simply didn't exist. That small project slowly grew into Wonsie, and today we're incredibly proud to support thousands of families across Australia and around the world.

Recently, I had the privilege of reflecting on that journey as a guest on the Wine With Wita Podcast, hosted by paediatric speech pathologist Rita Shamoun. I was also thankful to my friend Christy who also joined the conversation to share her experience why Wonsie bodysuits are such a necessity.

Wine With Wita is Australia's leading podcasts for parents navigating life with children who have communication difficulties, disabilities and additional support needs. Rita has created a wonderful space where families can hear honest stories, practical advice and encouragement from people who truly understand the journey.

During our conversation, we talked about:

  • How Wonsie first began with Christy and Zac's story.
  • The challenges families faced before adaptive clothing was readily available.
  • The lessons we've learned over the past 15 years.
  • How listening to our customers has shaped every product we've created.
  • Why our mission has always been about helping people live with greater comfort, dignity and confidence.

Looking back, it's amazing to think that something created for one little boy has gone on to help so many children, teenagers and adults around the world. Every email, every review and every story from our customers reminds us why we do what we do.

I'm incredibly grateful to Rita for inviting me onto the podcast and giving me the opportunity to share the story behind Wonsie. I hope our conversation encourages other families who may be searching for solutions, and perhaps inspires others who have an idea that starts with simply helping one person.

If you'd like to hear the full story of how Wonsie began, along with the highs, the challenges and everything in between, we'd love for you to listen to the episode when it airs on the 7th August 2026.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the Wonsie journey over the past 15 years. We couldn't have done it without the incredible families, carers, therapists and support workers who continue to inspire us every single day.
